The Boys & Girls Club of Nampa (BGCN) moves mountains for our community. It's changing lives by providing food, educational support, opportunities and a safe environment for our local kids. With the uncertainty we are all facing as a result of the pandemic the role the BGCN plays in our community has been expanded. What was once a part time after school program has turned into a full time program operating from 7:00 am - 6:30 pm five days a week that serves roughly 400 meals a day to members. A commercial kitchen and updated security were once considered important needs for the BGCN and have now become urgent.

Without a commercial kitchen it's more likely that kids will go hungry. When the food provided by community partners runs out, and without proper appliance to safely store food, food distribution is limited.

Being unable to afford adequate security equipment that keeps kids and staff safe in case of an emergency, creates an unnecessary concern when peace of mind is within reach.

With a commercial kitchen in place, the BGCN would have the capacity to serve and prepare more meals which looks like more kids being fed. It would allow for new programs that introduce the fundamentals of nutrition, the basics of cooking, and it would allow teens to try their hand at entrepreneurship through bake sales etc. A kitchen would also position the BGCN to meet needs beyond their members and reach into our neighborhoods to feed families. And, with adequate security parents, staff, and kids would have peace of mind of knowing there is some basic level of protection in place incase of an emergency.

Let's make this our new reality!
